"La Crème de la Crème", "Cheers to the star chefs" or "RATAOUILLE - for everyone!" - From now on, winter sports fans in the Ischgl ski area at over 2,300 metres above sea level can enjoy a huge open-air kitchen. From 9 to 13 January 2017, ten selected sculptors cooked their own soup à la "Chefs' Star Cup" with the snow in Ischgl for the 24th "Shapes in White" snow sculpture competition. Despite heavy snowfall and difficult conditions, ten sculptures up to ten metres high were created in five days from 50 tonnes of snow and scattered around the ski area. The winners were the "snow chefs" Ivo Piazza and Reiner Kasslatter from Italy, who met the taste of the Ischgl jury at the award ceremony on 13 January with "Guten Appetit in Ischgl".
Award-winning snow chefs
It wasn't just the winter sports enthusiasts who were impressed by the unique star-studded kitchen battle at the "Shapes in White" snow sculpture competition, the Ischgl judges were also impressed by the creative variety. In the end, Ivo Piazza and Reiner Kasslatter from Italy best met the taste of the jury with their "Guten Appetit in Ischgl" and were awarded first place. Second place went to the sculpture "Remuage" by the Italian team Simon Rauter and Peter Waldboth. Ivan Holzknecht and Armin Rifesser, also from Italy, came third with "La Crème de la Crème".
