Ischgl continues to write success stories: its two-millionth visitor and a third world record in a row

Ischgl has once again confirmed its exceptional standing in alpine tourism: by welcoming its two-millionth guest of the 2025/26 winter season and setting yet another Guinness World Record, the destination has achieved two significant milestones and can look back on an exceptionally successful season.

The combination of international appeal and strong regional roots makes Ischgl one of the most dynamic and successful tourist destinations in the Alps. Ongoing investment in quality and visitor experiences further reinforces this development. As a result, the destination is establishing itself as a long-term pioneer in Alpine tourism.

Two-millionth visitor to the Silvretta Arena Ischgl-Samnaun

On 17 April 2026 at 9.10 am, the moment had finally arrived: for the tenth time, the Silvretta Arena Ischgl-Samnaun welcomed its two-millionth guest of the winter season.

Mr Mahler, who, together with his wife, has been visiting Ischgl every year for an impressive 35 years, was personally welcomed by the directors of Silvrettaseilbahn AG, Markus Walser and Günther Zangerl. In recognition of their loyalty, the couple received a LEGO bouquet, an Insta360 action camera and a voucher for a delightful experience at the Alpenhaus.

This special award not only highlights the high level of guest satisfaction, but also the long-standing loyalty of many holidaymakers to Ischgl as a destination.

Welcoming its two-millionth guest once again is a striking testament to the region’s enduring strength. Ischgl can already look back on an extremely successful 2025/26 winter season and is continuing on its steady growth trajectory. With a unique combination of a packed international events calendar, high-quality cuisine and gastronomy, innovative offerings and an unmistakable alpine lifestyle in the spirit of Ischgl’s pioneering spirit, the destination succeeds year after year in setting new standards and inspiring guests from all over the world.

Ischgl remains the village of world records: third Guinness World Record in a row

As well as its success in the tourism sector, Ischgl is also making a name for itself internationally: on 17 April 2025, the Eiterer family, who run the Hotel Fliana, set a new Guinness World Record.

Under the official supervision of Guinness World Records adjudicator Seyda Subasi, accompanied by two independent witnesses and master builder Thomas Spiss, the world’s largest decanting machine was successfully tested and certified. The requirement was a capacity of at least 370 litres – an impressive 379 litres were achieved.

A world first from Ischgl

With the world’s largest wine decanter, the Eiterer family is making a spectacular mark on the international luxury hotel industry. This unique piece of equipment was developed and built by a specialist engineering firm based in Styria. At the heart of the system lies an oversized, fully functional structure that is not only regarded as a technical masterpiece but can also actually be filled with wine – a concept that is unique worldwide.

A wine cellar of the highest order

This record-breaking facility is part of an even larger project: by building one of Austria’s largest hotel wine cellars, the Eiterer family is setting new standards. Construction began in spring 2025, with completion scheduled for November 2027. The wine cellar brings together top international wines – with a focus on Bordeaux – as well as selected Austrian and Italian rarities, combining enjoyment, architecture and innovation at the very highest level.

Third consecutive world record for Ischgl

With the world’s largest decanting machine, Ischgl has secured its third consecutive world record, thereby underlining its position as an international hub of innovation in alpine tourism.

Back in 2023, Ischgl set its first record by hosting the world’s largest e-bike championship with the highest number of participants. This was followed in 2025 by a second milestone: the world’s largest ski gondola built from LEGO bricks. Under the leadership of President Alexander von der Thannen and Managing Director Thomas Köhle, the Paznaun – Ischgl Tourist Board sees this as a strong signal for the region’s ongoing development. Ischgl impressively demonstrates that it is possible to set new standards even within a highly developed tourism landscape – with courage, creativity and a keen sense for extraordinary experiences.

International appeal

The combination of success in the tourism sector and exceptional projects makes Ischgl a beacon with international appeal. With innovative concepts, spectacular records and a clear commitment to quality, the destination demonstrates once again:

Ischgl remains a place where visions become reality.
