The Games for the Golden Herdsman's Harp
Welcome to the Alpine Cheese Olympics in Galtür, Tyrol - the heart of Alpine cheese culture. This unique event attracts cheese lovers and alpine dairies from all over the Alps to celebrate tradition and culinary highlights. More than 100 Alpine dairies from Austria, Germany, Italy, Switzerland and Liechtenstein compete with their best cheeses, which are judged by a panel of experts. These cheeses have unique flavours influenced by the alpine flora. Visitors can taste the variety of cheeses, from creamy soft to tangy hard, and talk directly to the producers about the production process and the stories behind the cheeses. An unforgettable experience that combines tradition, quality and culinary excellence.
Discover Alpine cheeses in Galtür
At the International Alpine Cheese Olympiad in Galtür, visitors can sample a wide range of cheeses from 11 am to 6 pm. Discover Alpine and mountain cheeses, Emmental and Tilsit, with a variety of textures and flavours to enjoy. Make a note of the date and join us for a day of cheese tasting in Galtür.
33rd International Alpine Cheese Olympics
- When: from 11:00 am
- Where: at the Sports & Cultural Centre Galtür
- Cost: Entry fee 18 Euro
- Traditional costume desired
- 11:00 am: Opening by the jury and blessing of the cheeses.
- 3:00 pm: Welcome address for the guests of honour, followed by a procession from the village square with the Galtür Brass Band, the Zams Brass Band, the traditional costume group and the Galtür Rifle Company.
- 3:30 pm: Traditional beer tapping ceremony.
- 3:30 pm: Children's jury.
Silvretta Hall
- 11:00 am: Hall opens.
- 11:30 am – 2:30 pm: Performance by the "Fidelen Milser".
- 2:30 pm – 3:00 pm: Performance by the "Jodlergruppe Frutigland".
- 4:00 pm – 8:00 pm: Performance by "Galtürer Syndikat".
- 8:00 pm: Cheese awards ceremony with the Galtür Sennerharfe.
- 9:00 pm: Dancing and entertainment with the "Partyjäger".
Beer Garden & Exhibition
- 10:00 am – 6:00 pm: Cheese tasting and sales. The programme will be hosted by Manuela Holeth.
- 10:00 am – 1:30 pm: Performance by the "Weizenbläser".
- 2:00 pm – 6:00 pm: Performance by "Men N'Blech".
- 6:00 pm – 9:00 pm: Performance by "Tiroler Lewben".
- from 9:00 pm: Dancing and entertainment with the "Rieder Gipfelstürmer".
Schnaps Bar
- from 9:00 pm: Party at the Schnaps Bar with DJ Paul.
Admission: €18.00 for the entire day. Group rates are also available on request. Traditional dress is encouraged.
No alcohol will be served to anyone under the age of 16.
The children's programme will take place in front of the Sports and Cultural Centre.
