At the "Shapes in White" snow sculpture competition, which took place in Ischgl for the 28th time this year from 10 to 14 January, four pairs of international artists transformed Ischgl's slopes into an open-air gallery for winter sports visions over five days. There are four spectacular snow sculptures up to ten metres high to marvel at: "Speed", a high-speed bobsleigh ride on the bobsleigh run, "Ice Skates", a pair of oversized ice skates, "Big Air" shows a snowboarder performing aerial acrobatics and the figure "Eddie the Eagle" portrays the English ski jumping idol on the ski jump. After careful consideration, the Ischgl jury chose the sculpture "Speed" by Ralf Rosa and Peter Fechtig from Germany as the winner.

Winter sports visions realised ice-cold

Four spectacular snow sculptures, four teams of artists from three countries and ultimately only one 1st place. For the Ischgl jury, this year's 28th "Shapes in White" snow sculpture competition under the motto "Winter Sports" proved to be a tough choice: "Every year, the artists impress us anew with their creative interpretations of the motto and their masterful realisation. This year, the four pairs of artists made our choice particularly difficult," says a delighted jury member Dietmar Walser, Managing Director of the Paznaun - Ischgl Tourist Board. The jury's verdict: Ralf Rosa and Peter Fechtig from Germany won gold for their bobsleigh run "Speed" in 2022. Second place went to Vladimiro Tessaro and Giovanni Fabiani from Italy with their "Ice Skates". Bronze went to Simon Rauter and Peter Waldboth from Italy with their "Big Air" snowboarder. Fourth place went to Justin Scott and Martin Sharp from England with their interpretation of Eddie the Eagle.
