The popular Sonnenbahn B5 chairlift is located at Idalp, right at the heart of Ischgl’s ski resort. A highlight for parents and accompanying adults: The state-of-the-art detachable chairlift boasts automatic safety bars. The bars automatically close once everyone is seated and only open again when the mountain station is reached.

The powerful Sonnenbahn chairlift transports up to 2,400 avid skiers per hour up to the summit. Located right between the two popular blue slopes number 6 and 9, the 6-seater chairlift is perfect for beginners and families.

2011 marked the start of an era

Just like many other lifts and cable cars in Ischgl, Sonnenbahn chairlift can look back on an impressive history.

The first Sonnenlift was put into operation on 14 December 1977, transporting a total of seven million winter sports athletes until 2011. In the summer of 2011, it was time to open a new chapter with an impressive upgrade.
