Battle of Gladiators – Austrian Qualification for the Aufguss World Cup Freestyle

The Battle of Gladiators is Austria’s official qualifying event for the Aufguss World Cup Freestyle – and this year, it returns for the second time to Silvretta Therme in Ischgl. Top contenders from across the country, including participants from Alpentherme Gastein and Alpenresort Schwarz, will compete for a spot in the 2026 Grand Final, which will take place in the world’s largest sauna in Poland.

"Back again this year is local hero Bernie Becht, a former winner of the Austrian Aufguss Championships who qualified for the World Championship finals last year," says Andreas Ramsauer, Managing Director of Silvretta Therme Ischgl. "We’re looking forward to hosting this thrilling event, which is sure to get not only the participants, but also our guests, sweating."

 

Face-to-Face Battles

In this competition, contestants go head-to-head in front of a jury and live audience. Precision in movement and creative towel choreography are at the core of each performance. Sauna masters must impress both with technique and expression. Competitors showcase their control, skill, and creativity through powerful shows that range from acrobatic moves to complex towel tricks.

The jury pays special attention to the mastery of waving techniques, harmony with the music, and overall professionalism. The goal: to outshine the opponent and convince the jury with an outstanding performance.

 

Limited Event Tickets

A limited number of Battle of Gladiators event tickets are available for Silvretta Therme Ischgl. Each ticket includes:

  • A full-day combo ticket (pool area & sauna) starting at 9:00 a.m.

  • Breakfast at 9:30 a.m.

  • Guaranteed entry to five competitions without queuing
