E-Bike World Championship for Everyone in Ischgl and Galtür: a taste of world championship glory for all ability levels

When ambitious amateur cyclists, leisure cyclists and elite athletes come together in the Tyrolean mountains, it’s that time of year again: the E-Bike World Championship for Everyone in Ischgl and Galtür. A variety of route formats and a diverse programme of supporting events – including an Expo Area, side events and the spectacular fox hunt – make this event so much more than just a race. Combining sporting challenges with a festival atmosphere, the result is a weekend where it’s not just the times that count, but above all the shared experiences – and where anyone can become a world champion.

From 3 to 5 September 2026, Ischgl and Galtür will once again become the meeting place for the international e-bike scene. The E-Bike World Championship for Everyone promises a weekend packed with sporting challenges, the joy of shared experiences and innovative trends in e-mountain biking – appealing to professionals, ambitious amateur cyclists and leisure cyclists alike.

Professionals and well-known figures at the E-Bike World Championship

In the elite category, the Austrian Lisa Schüttler is the defending champion in the women’s event. The German Susanne Kienzle and the Italian Barbara Oberdorfer are sure to be in contention for the gold once again. In the men’s event, the Argentine Deriaz Lifona, the German Daniel Klemme and the Swiss Linus Gerber are among the favourites.

Alongside the professionals, former sporting greats such as Olympic champion Sigrid Wolf, the two footballers Walter Schachner and Otto Konrad, and musician and presenter Franz Posch will also be taking part. 

Anyone can be a winner

The Open E-Bike World Championship is held under the motto “Anyone can be a winner – anyone can become an e-bike world champion” and provides a platform that brings together people of all ability levels. Whether it’s sporting ambition or simply the atmosphere of an international competition set against a breathtaking Alpine backdrop – the event has something to offer everyone.

NEW FOR 2026: The “Taking part is everything” route puts the shared experience at the heart of the event. With no timekeeping and no race-day stress, participants aged six and over complete the route against a stunning natural backdrop – as part of the E-Bike Parade, with or without fancy dress. The focus is on fun, camaraderie and unforgettable moments of joy. All finishers will receive a medal. The entry fee is 39 euros. This makes the E-Bike World Championship even more accessible to families, young riders and anyone who wants to experience the racing atmosphere without the pressure to perform.

Variety of routes

Participants can choose from four route formats, each catering to different ability levels:

·        ‘Jedermann’ – a classic route for amateur cyclists

·        “Jedermann Advanced” – a more challenging course for advanced participants

·        “Elite” – a technical and physical challenge for ambitious racers, competitive athletes and professional sportspeople (open to all, no licence required)

·        “It’s all about taking part” – for everyone who simply wants to join in, enjoy the scenery and share the joy of e-cycling with others

The routes wind through the spectacular mountain scenery of Ischgl and Galtür and are well signposted. Additional marshals on the route ensure that you can find your way and stay safe whilst out and about.

We’re expecting a large number of participants once again; we’ve currently received entries from 37 countries and are seeing correspondingly high occupancy rates in Paznaun – and the weather is set to be at its best too. The E-Bike World Championship for Everyone is taking place in Ischgl for the sixth time and have becomes a real highlight in our calendar of events. For me personally, the excitement is even greater: I’ll be competing in the elite category for the fifth time. E-Bike Expo & supporting programme

To coincide with the World Cup, a varied programme of events awaits visitors and participants:

·        E-Bike Expo featuring numerous exhibitors showcasing the latest e-bike models, accessories, clothing and technological highlights, as well as opportunities to test them out on site

·        Live music and other attractions create a festival atmosphere

·        E-bike hire is available to participants so they can explore the routes in advance or join in at short notice

·        Team rankings allow families, clubs and groups of friends to cheer on their teams together

Fox hunting – a side event packed with action

Traditionally, the E-Bike World Championship kicks off on Thursday with the spectacular E-Bike Fox Hunt on the Idalp. The aim is to overtake a ‘fox’ – a rider without electric assistance – on a challenging uphill course. As well as being a sporting challenge, this event creates a fantastic atmosphere, before a musical ‘sun.downer’ takes place at the Alpenhaus.

Registration for the 2026 E-Bike World Championship for Everyone is now open. The entry fee starts at 39 euros for the ‘It’s all about taking part’ category and at 79 euros for all other categories. Early birds can secure attractive benefits and save on the starter packs. Participants who do not have their own e-bike can hire a high-quality one.
