Darmstädter Hütte lodge

Located in an impressive high mountain basin to the north of Ischgl is Darmstädter Hütte, at 2384m. The lodge is indeed easy to get to from St. Anton am Arlberg, but Darmstädter Hütte is a worthwhile destination for expert hikers coming from Iscghl too. In around four to five hours you hike from Ischgl through the Madleintal valley and across the Doppelseescharte, to Darmstädter Hütte in the Verwall area. The section through the tranquil Madleintal valley is especially charming, since lots of sheep spend the summer grazing up here and the crystal-clear Lake Madleinsee invites you to take a breather. From Darmstädter Hütte there is a superb view to some of the summits of the Verwall group, for instance the Küchlspitze at 3147m and the Saumspitze at 3039m. There is also a climbing garden very close to the lodge, for all those of you who have enough energy left over after such an extensive tour.
