The popular E-Bike World Championships for Everyone took place in Ischgl and Galtür for the sixth time this year. The unique format gives recreational riders and ambitious athletes alike the opportunity to compete for a world championship title. In the Elite category, Poland’s Marcin Bogdanski and Katerina Matysik came out on top to secure the coveted titles.

In perfect conditions, more than 1,500 e-bikers from 37 nations lined up at the start of the E-Bike World Championships for Everyone on Saturday. The sporting highlight was the ELITE race.

Polish success in both the women’s and men’s races

In a highly competitive international field, Polish athletes dominated the Elite category in both the women’s and men’s races. In the women’s event, Katerina Matysik claimed the world championship title, finishing ahead of South Tyrol’s Barbara Oberdorfer and Germany’s Susanne Kienzle in second and third place respectively. Her victory once again underlined the strong presence of Polish riders at this year’s E-Bike World Championships.

The men’s race could hardly have been closer. In a thrilling sprint finish, Poland’s Marcin Bogdanski edged out Switzerland’s Michael Lenherr by just 0.1 seconds. Germany’s Daniel Klemme finished third.

World champions across numerous categories

Under the motto “Everyone can become a world champion”, numerous titles were awarded across the various categories. Alongside the technically demanding Elite course and the Everyone course, which is open to participants aged ten and above, the “Everyone Advanced” category has also become a firmly established part of the race format. The high number of participants shows just how popular this more challenging format has become among ambitious e-bikers.

Olympic champions, world champions and musicians join the E-Bike World Championships

A host of well-known personalities from the worlds of sport, radio and television also took part. Alongside snowboard world champion Andreas Prommegger, participants included former Austrian international footballer Walter “Schoko” Schachner, legendary goalkeeper Otto Konrad, Super-G Olympic champion Sigrid Wolf and speed skating legend Michael Hadschieff.

Folk musician and “Mei liabste Weis” presenter Franz Posch provided a particularly memorable moment. Shortly before the start, he spontaneously picked up the microphone and his accordion and performed the fitting song “Ja, mir san mit’m Radl da”. Following his musical performance, he swapped the stage for an e-bike and successfully completed the Everyone course himself.

The event was organised by the E-Bike World Federation in cooperation with the Paznaun – Ischgl Tourism Association.

E-Bike Fox Hunt kicks off the sporting action

The sporting programme for the World Championship weekend got under way on Thursday with the traditional E-Bike Fox Hunt. For the fourth time, Austrian cross-country skiing star Teresa Stadlober took on the role of the “fox”. Riding a road bike, she made her way up to the Idalp while more than 60 e-bikers set off in pursuit.

Stadlober delivered an impressive performance, reaching the Idalp in a new record time. Only four participants managed to catch the elite athlete on the climb. Stadlober also used her stay in Ischgl for additional roller-ski training sessions, combining the fun of competition with preparation for the upcoming season.

A varied supporting programme

There was also plenty on offer away from the racecourse at the E-Bike World Championships for Everyone. Participants and visitors enjoyed a varied programme centred around all things e-bike.

At the heart of the event was the large E-Bike EXPO, featuring well over 40 exhibitors from the international cycling industry. The EXPO Fun Challenge put participants’ skill and bike-handling abilities to the test, while a large prize draw offered a range of attractive prizes. The top prize was a premium e-bike from Simplon, the official bike partner of the Paznaun – Ischgl region.

Bike to Help: E-Bike World Championships support a good cause

The event also placed a strong emphasis on social responsibility. Under the motto “Bike to Help”, a group of cyclists from Germany raised a total of €3,250 for the Tyrolean Children’s Cancer Support organisation.

A donation box was also set up at the registration area, giving participants and visitors the opportunity to make voluntary contributions. The Paznaun – Ischgl Tourism Association also supported the initiative by donating one euro for every participant in the E-Bike World Championships. In this way, the event combined sporting commitment with social engagement and sent a strong message in support of a good cause.

The E-Bike World Championships for Everyone will return from 2 to 4 September 2027.

Registration is already open. Everyone among the first 500 entrants will also have the chance to win a Kraftstoff e-bike in the exclusive E-Bike World Federation design.
