Poederbaas Freeride Festival Kappl

Send it!

A week of powder, community and festival atmosphere in the mountains: at the Poederbaas Freeride Festival in March 2026, Kappl will become the meeting place for the international freeride scene.

What you can expect:

  • Freeride action in alpine terrain
  • Freeride Clinics & Snowsafety-Workshops
  • NK/BK Freeride Competition & Vertical Skimo
  • Rail Contest and legendary Waterslide Contest
  • Daily après-ski in the sheepfold
  • Mountain parties such as Electronic Dias and The Last Drop

What once began as a freeride competition among friends has developed into a unique event – with freeriding, competitions, workshops, après-ski and parties high above the Alps. During the day, participants head out into the open terrain to explore new lines and push their personal limits. At clinics and snow safety workshops, professionals share their knowledge, the latest equipment can be tried out at the test centre, and riders from the Netherlands and Belgium compete in alpine terrain. And after the last run? Then it's time to celebrate together at the Schafstall, at après-ski or at the mountain parties.

What’s Happening This Week

  • When: 14–21 March 2026
  • Where: Kappl ski resort, Tyrol
  • Duration: one week Freeride Festival
  • Participants: international freeride community, particularly from the Netherlands and Belgium
  • Programme: Competitions, workshops, test centre, après-ski and mountain parties

The programme is weather dependent and may change at short notice.

At the Poederbaas Freeride Festival, you can look forward to a week full of mountain adventures.

  • Electronic Dias: On Sunday, the week kicks off with an electronic open-air session above the clouds. DJs, panoramic views and festival vibes make for the perfect start.
  • Freeride Clinics & Workshops: Improve your technique and expand your knowledge with freeride sessions and snow safety workshops.
  • Test Centre: Test the latest freeride equipment directly on the slopes.
  • Daily après-ski in the sheepfold: The community meets daily for après-ski right by the valley run.
  • Waterslide Contest: The legendary Waterslide Contest involves skiing or snowboarding over a water basin – original outfits are expressly encouraged.
  • The Last Drop – Closing Party: On Friday, the week ends with a big mountain party featuring a DJ line-up and festival atmosphere on the slopes.

The week will centre around several competitions in which riders from the Netherlands and Belgium will compete against each other.

  • 16 March 2026 | NK/BK Vertical Skimo: Vertical Skimo is an uphill race. The course covers around 3.5 kilometres and approximately 600 metres of elevation gain.
  • 16 March 2026 | Rail Contest: New to the programme is the Rail Contest right next to the sheep pen – with spectacular tricks and festival vibes.
  • 18.03.-19.03.2026 | NK/BK Freeride: The Dutch and Belgian Freeride Championships will be held on a previously announced face. Line choice, technique, control, fluidity, air and style will be evaluated.
  • 20 March 2026 | Waterslide Contest: The classic event to round off the week: ski or snowboard across the water basin – creativity, style and the most spectacular splash will be judged.
  • Sunday, 15 March: Clinics & Test Centre open, Electronic Dias with Marvin Aloys and further artists
  • Monday, 16 March: Dutch Vertical Skimo, Clinics & Test Centre, Rail Contest (NEW!), Après-Ski & Theme Party.
