When the animals return from the alpine pastures to the valley in autumn, the traditional Almabtrieb is celebrated in Ischgl. Local farmers from the Ischgl Alps Pardatsch, Fimba, Gampen, Paznauner Taja, Madlein, and Idalp adorn their cows and sheep with flowers, bells, and cowbells to give thanks for the accident-free time in the mountains. Afterwards, a festival is held in the hamlet of Paznaun, featuring live music, entertainment, and culinary delights. Traditional Paznaun specialties are served, including Kiachla (dough flatbreads with sauerkraut or cranberries) and Kaspressknödel with the infamous Paznaun mountain cheese. At this festival, one can experience Ischgl and its deeply rooted traditions up close.
