A winter hiking trip is especially appropriate for the quiet moments in Ischgl. Take time out from day to day matters and follow your thoughts for a while. Where can you do this better than on a walk through the natural scenery of Paznaun? It presents itself, especially enchantingly, shrouded in magnificent white and invites your contemplation.


ISCHGL WINTER FOOTPATH

The Ischgl winter footpath is ideal for an initial discovery tour or for a quieter winter holiday. It covers a 5 km relatively flat route and is therefore not overly demanding. Despite this, you are left with the feeling of having achieved something - out in the magnificent snowy winter landscapes of  Paznaun.

ISCHGL – MATHON WINTER FOOTPATH

The 6 km long Mathon winter footpath leads through the deep snowy landscapes and through romantic clearings and past the wildlife park. The sparkling snowy landscape exudes a special sense of relaxation. You can experience Paznaun in its most authentic form here, far away from the crowds.

MUTTA WINTER FOOTPATH

The winter footpath on the Mutta leads from Ischgl village centre and winds its way through the deep snowy woods. From the top, you can enjoy fantastic views across Ischgl and watch the lively activity down below from afar. The wide trail weaves its way up a 2.5 km track with your efforts rewarded with magnificent views from the top.

SMUGGLER TOUR

If you fancy combining a cross-border hiking excursion with some shopping, the Smuggler Tour in duty-free Samnaun is just the thing. This tour can be adapted to suit your fitness level. You can decide whether you want to complete the entire route by cable car or chair lift or whether you want to walk some of the sections. A truly special experience.

PAZNAUNER TAJA

This is probably the best known ski hut in Ischgl and is easy to walk to. You can take the cable car up to the Idalp at 2,320 m and from here continue on by chair lift and on foot to the Paznauner Taja. Stroll along the winter footpaths and recharge your batteries after your efforts at the ski hut with its party atmosphere – right in the Silvretta Arena ski resort.

HEIDELBERGER HÜTTE

The Heidelberger Hütte is renowned among bikers and is a charming destination for all winter hikers. You can reach the middle station by cable car and from here follow the walk through the Fimbatal valley to the Heidelberger Hütte, which is located in Switzerland. The walk to the hut takes around 3 hours. You can decide whether you want to walk the route back or take the hut taxi (skidoo) and save yourself a few kilometres. The winter hiking trails in Ischgl are clearly marked and signposted so that you will find your way without problems. These trails are also prepared – winter hiking in Ischgl lives up to its name.

You reach the beautiful mountain world with the three cable cars. You can use the  Höllbodenbahn, Sassgalunbahn and Idjochbahn cable cars that are included in the ski pass price.

In this way you reach the starting point for wonderful winter hiking routes, always accompanied by impressive mountain landscape. There are three different winter hiking routes available in Ischgl at present. The first of these leads from the middle station of either the Silvrettabahn or the Fimbabahn to the Bodenalpe. You should plan a walking time of about three hours.

The tour from the Idalp through the “Nachtweide” to the Höllbodenbahn base station may be shorter but it is no less attractive. From there, you can return to Idalp with the cable car. This variation takes approx. 1.5 hours.

The complete winter hike takes you from the Idalp over the “Nachtweide” to Höllboden, further over the Sassgalun to the Paznauner Taja and ends at the middle station. The longest tour is planned with a walking time of approx. five hours for real walking professionals.
