VAMPIRES VISIT ISCHGL SKI RUNS – UNTIL THE SNOW MELTS

As part of the 18th Ischgl snow sculpture competition “Shapes in White” Ischgl will be home to vampires: Ten internationally renowned artists will awaken to life the mystical creatures of darkness from 10 to 14 January 2011 using ice and snow – until the snow melts.

The 18th Ischgl snow sculpture competition is known as “Shapes in White,” and this year’s theme will be “vampires”. The whole story revolves around the history of Edward Cullen, Count Dracula and their fascinating but biting fellows and runs from 10 to 14 January 2011. Ten internationally renowned artist pairs will cut and chisel super-tall vampire sculptures in the snow of Ischgl and convert the Tyrolean ski metropolis into a large open-air gallery. Due to guaranteed snowfall, the biting creatures are sure to continue in “life” until the beginning of May, giving you the opportunity to marvel at the princes of darkness throughout the Silvretta Arena ski slopes at a close – but safe – distance.

Until the Snow Melts

Before the vampires rise up from the snowy fields, professional sculptors from around the world will present their designs to the Ischgl judges. They will invite the ten best to bring their creations to life in a final elimination competition. Then from the submitted sketches, over a period of five days masterful creations will appear from ice and snow which can be viewed with excitement until the beginning of spring right in the middle of the exceptional Silvretta mountain scenery. Best of all: Curious vampire- and snow-fans can watch the transformation live and even follow the artist’s fingers as they awake their biting creations to life. Prizes will be awarded for the most biting sculptures on 14 January. Additional information available on the newly revised homepage of www.ischgl.com.
