ISCHGL - LIFESTYLE ISLAND FOR WINTER SPORTSMEN
The Tyrolean ski resort of Ischgl is an Alpine lifestyle skiing location. The famous Ischgl winter enraptures its guests with uninhibited holiday flair, offering everything from skiing in the very finest style to concerts with international stars, entertainment, events and the highest quality of shopping all the way to outstanding culinary creations. In Ischgl in Tyrolean Paznaun we live and breathe superlatives. In winter the area offers a perfect mix of excellent winter sports and incomparable entertainment. It's not for nothing that the village, with a population of 1,500, is known as a perfect winter sports Eldarado, which has received multiple awards from both national and international media and offers round the clock entertainment. The service at the Silvretta Arena is improved every year, so that in Ischgl even skiing is a real experience. Top of the mountain concerts with international stars, held in the middle of the ski piste, represent a unique form of entertainment, gourmet huts offer avant-garde architecture and exclusive ski cuisine. Of course Ischgl is a perfect resort for skiing - incidentally, the largest connected one in the Tyrol - with the most modern equipment and guaranteed snow until the beginning of May. In the Silvretta Arena, more than 235 kilometres of piste lead to a height of almost 3,000 metres, then back down into the Swiss tax haven of Samnaun. As a ski resort with entertainment value, Ischgl is unique: There's an excellent après-ski atmosphere in the establishments along the Ischgl promenade. Shopping boutiques or restaurants as good as in any big city, cigar lounges or clubs, even after the day's skiing there are plenty of possibilities to suit every taste. Apart from the three Top of the Mountain Concerts, the Ischgl events calendar is filled with events such as the snow sculptures competition with international artists, numerous sports events like for example the Frejins Snowboard Freeride Inferno. The winter season in Ischgl starts with the Opening on 28th November 2009 and finishes with the legendary Top of the Mountain Concert on 1nd May 2010.
Unlimited skiing experiences in the Silvretta Arena
From the end of November to the beginning of May, the Silvretta Arena offers ideal winter sports conditions that go beyond all limits for all those who follow the trends or are hungry for snow. With the joint ski pass for Austria's Ischgl and the Swiss tax haven of Samnaun, the Silvretta Arena is a high-altitude winter sports paradise boasting more than 235 km of pistes. Of these, 45 km are black, 127 km are red and 38 km are blue runs. A total of 40 comfortable lifts and cableways whisk winter athletes up into the mountains. Among them is the Fimbabahn, Austria's first cable car with heated seats. In just 15 minutes it brings winter athletes directly from the centre of the village up to the 2,320 metre high Idalp. 490 snow cannons cover over 70 percent of the pistes in the Silvretta Arena. All of this ensure the perfect conditons, guaranteeing ideal winter sports from the very first day of the season. Such as on "eleven", one of Ischgl's sporting highlights: The eleven kilometer run leads from the Greitspitz, at a height of 2,900 metres, down into the valley at 1,400 metres. For those who prefer off-piste skiing and freestyle adventures, 20 km of ski routes including a wide range of off-piste slopes with untouched, deep snow are waiting to be discovered.
Hotels, Restaurants and Nightlife
The famous Ischgl ski huts, restaurants and sun terraces provide a lively atmosphere - with everything from comfortable to action packed and from tranquil to a playful party atmosphere. For example, you can allow yourself to be convinced by the new exclusive restaurants Alpenhaus on the Idalpe and the futuristic Salaas at the Greitspitz railway base station with its elegant, avant-garde Alpine architecture. Outside you find a terrace for relaxing and sunbathing, inside a stylish restaurant and ski bar. And the cool après-ski hangouts and trendy bars in the village itself are in no way inferior to the lifestyle, comfort and service in the ski resort. Zest for life, entertainment and quality après ski are also offered in the famous nightlife spots. Here Ischgls motto ‘Relax. If you can ...' becomes a real challenge! Even if there isn't much time for sleeping at night: Ischgl offers more than 11,000 guest beds in design and theme hotels ranging from luxurious to ultra-modern, in traditional guesthouses and apartments, in cosy holiday flats and in rustic bed-and-breakfasts - the right atmosphere for every taste.
Investments for the guests
More than 30 million euros have been invested in Ischgl over the past few years, to help make the winter holiday resort even more unique and popular. So, for instance, the sports shop with ski and boot hire is now located directly inside the cable car station. The inconvenience of carrying skiing equipment from hotel to cable car and back is a thing of the past. In the building at the Silvrettabahn base station, the office provides an improved service for customers with a ski and snowboard school and an Info point.
