IMPRESSIVE START TO THE SEASON: GOSSIP GET ISCHGL ROCKING
Ischgl is providing a brilliant start to the coming winter season:
Post-Punk Indie rock band Gossip headed by the 100 kilo leading lady Beth Ditto will provide a high-volume opener to the winter season on 27th November 2010 at the legendary ‘Top of the Mountain Opening Concert’ – entry is free with a valid ski pass
Mega concert in the Alps: 20,000 people, an amount of people usually only found in a city stadium, rock every year when Ischgl kicks off the ski season with its legendary ‘Top of the Mountain Opening Concert’. Guesting this year in Ischgl is none other than Gossip, who will quite literally get the open-air stage in the middle of the town centre rocking on 27th November 2010 – leading the way is Beth Ditto, the brash 100 kilo front lady of the US band, who Karl Lagerfeld named as a style icon on account of her highly individual, self-assured manner. Musical support for Ditto is provided by band members Nathan Howdeshell (bass/guitar) and Hannah Blilie (drums), who get fans going with hits like ‘Heavy Cross’ and ‘Love Long Distance’. The concert starts at 6 p.m. Anyone who wants to be there doesn’t have to buy any expensive tickets – entry is free with a valid ski pass. Two winter adventures are on the agenda – on the piste during the day and at the concert in the evening. Winter athletes can take to the pistes in Ischgl the day before, since skiing starts up here on 26th November - with the best snow conditions, 238 kilometres of pistes, 41 lift facilities and many new features in the ski area.
A one-off day ski pass, incl. concert, costs just 55 Euro on 27th November.

In 2007 she caused a sensation by appearing naked on the front cover with the headline ‘Kiss my ass’.
At the Glamour Awards in 2008 she was named International Artist of the Year. However it is not just in the music scene that this garish rock chick is making her presence felt. With her style she has even secured her reputation as a fashion icon with the likes of Karl Lagerfeld and Stella McCartney. Her deserve: she has made baroque bodies socially acceptable again. In February 2009 she appeared naked on the cover of glossy British magazine Love and in the same year designed her own oversized collection for the British clothing company Evans.

Ischgl heads into the winter season with a world first
On the pistes too Ischgl offers its guests nothing but the best from 26th No-vember, right up to the start of May. This winter athletes can avail of a downloadable GPS positioning system and can get themselves to the peaks with this world first. Meanwhile ‘black skiing’ gets a whole new meaning in Ischgl this season. The new ‘Lange Wand Bahn’, a detachable 6-seater chair lift with a modern Ischgl look – and one-of-a-kind in the world chair in a black design - transports piste fans in just 5.6 minutes up 2850 metres altitude, to the highest elevation in the Silvretta Arena – and this is more comfortable than ever before, since the ‘Lange Wand Bahn’ now provides the utmost in comfort with its heated seats. There has also been a lot of investment in Samnaun – the old Muller-Bahn has been replaced by a detachable 6-seater chairlift which has a weather-protection hood. With these lifts Ischgl has more than 41 lift facilities on 238 kilometres of pistes which take you right into the Swiss Samnaun region. Ski fun and snow-assuredness awaits skiers and snow-boarders here at an altitude of between 1377 and 2872 metres, from the end of November until the start of May. The ‘Lange Wand Bahn’, as with all the other facilities and Alpine huts in the Silvrettaarena can be located with ease by mobile phone from this winter. ‘iSki Ischgl’ is available as an APP for the iPhone, Blackberry and Android GPS positioning and there is a piste plan for the winter season 2010/11 available to download.
