MOUNTAIN BIKE TOURS INCLUDING GPS Tracking
Bike tours in the Austrian Alps
Mountain bike tours in the Austrian mountains: Big Mountain Tours are very demanding enduro tours with great differences in altitude to overcome and challenging downhill trails.
Experience beautiful, extended enduro circular trails (with optional cable car sections) combining the most attractive single-trail routes of the region with exciting mountain bike day trips in Ischgl! A highlight of the Big Mountain Tours is certainly the tour to Fimbapass mountain pass with an ascent of 2,800 metres and a descent of 4,000 metres, taking you to the charming Velilltal valley at the end of the tour. Indulge in mountain bike tours in the Austrian mountains: do not miss the Fuorcla Val Gronda route to the Heidelberger Hütte Alpine chalet via Greitspitze mountain and Zeblasjoch ridge (with optional cable car sections). Enjoy pure cycling fun in the pristine mountain environment of the Tyrolean Alps during your marvellous bike tours in the Austrian Alps!
Black Tour Nr. 19, Fuorcla Val Gronda
This an even harder version of the trail to Zeblasjoch ridge - harder but even more rewarding: after an ascent to Idjoch ridge (either by the power of your own muscles on two wheels or by cable car) take the same trail to Zeblasjoch ridge as in Tour 18, but turn left to the Fuorcla Val Gronda. A narrow trail through coarse rubble and boulders reminiscent of a lunar landscape forces you to push your bike over a 200 metres altitude difference. Why should anyone put themselves through that? Simple, a marvellous mountain bike trail begins at the Fuorcla (the border with Switzerland) with breathtaking views of Fluchthorn mountain and the Heidelberger Hütte mountain chalet. Indulge in local specialities at this mountain hut and whizz back into the valley on a gravel road to the Gampenalm Alpine pasture and a beautiful trail on the left bank of the Fimbach river - a perfect end to a tour along 11.5 kilometres of single-trail tracks.
Black Tour Nr. 20, Salaaser-Trail
The Salaaser trail tour is a demanding enduro tour. Cycling fans have the option to ascend the the Idalp Alpine pasture on their bikes or by cable car. Push your bike the short distance from Idjoch ridge to the summit of Greitspitze mountain during one of your bike tours in the Austrian Alps. Enjoy the breathtaking Greitspitz trail to the Salaaser trail originating at the Salaaser Kopf mountain. This trail is feasible on a mountain bike but requires some skill and mountain bike experience. Take the chair lift from the ski station to Flimjoch ridge - the ski piste is simply too steep to push your bike up the mountain. Enjoy the reward - glide into the valley on the Velill trail (Tour 23). You will never forget this mountain bike holiday highlight!
Black Tour Nr. 26, Fimberpass mountain pass
Fimbapass mountain pass - a legend. In the old days the farmers carried their deceased to the cemetery of Ramosch in the Engadin. Today this is mountain bike territory. Thousands pass over the Fimbapass mountain pass and stop for something to eat at the Heidelberger Hütte chalet. Experience a great downhill trail and access to the fascinating Val d’Uina ravine. But how do you get back to Ischgl during your bike holidays in Tyrol? Take the cable car to the middle station, continue your trip to the Heidelberger Hütte chalet, over the mountain pass to Ramosch. Take the bike trail to the border, the road to Samnaun and the cable car back to Ischgl. And if 85 kilometres is too much for you take the shuttle from Ramosch to Samnaun and save yourself 40 kilometres.
Black Tour Nr. 22, Smuggler's Tour
It is almost a pity that most enduro bikers are no great fans of liquor. If they were a trip to the Samnanun valley in Switzerland would truly pay off - as there is the opportunity for tax-free shopping and 'smuggling' the goods back into the EU. But as the customs officers in Ischgl have a close eye on such shenanigans - why not 'get drunk' on the joy of enduro biking on a fantastic trail? From the Idjoch ridge on the Greitspitz and Salaaser trails to Samnaun valley! Take a ride in the unique double-storey cable car back to the Alp Trida Alpine pasture, the chair lift to the Flimjoch ridge and the Velill trail (Tour 23) back to Ischgl. One of the most beautiful enduro bike tours in the Tyrolean mountains with a difference in altitude of 530 metres it is feasible even for those in a medium physical condition.
