ROUTE
Participants do not have to opt for a distance in advance – at the Ischgl Ironbike, you can decide which route you want to take during the race.

DOES NOT APPLY TO LICENSED RIDERS WHO WILL ONLY BE ASSESSED ON THE LONG ROUTE! (see below for more information *)

Short route 2.5 km & 755 m altitude: From Ischgl via the Lareinalm to Galtür and back to Ischgl. Charming landscapes and varied terrain; trails not difficult.

Medium route 48 km & 2057 m altitude: Following a short circuit, steep climb up to the Idalpe and on to the Vellillscharte. From here, along the super trail designed by Hans Rey and a fast descent through the Velliltal valley back to Ischgl. Pure biking fun, also suitable for less technically experienced bikers.

Long route 79 km & 3,820 m altitude: Track splits into second circuit above the Idalpe (see altitude profile), steep climb via the Idjoch to the Greitspitze. Single trails and panoramic views accompany the Greitspitze and Salaaser trails down to Laret and Samnaun and from here via the Zeblasjoch, Palinkopf and Höllboden back to Ischgl. Steep, challenging and mountainous – it’s not without good reason that this is called the Ischgl Ironbike!

*IMPORTANT INFORMATION FOR LICENSED BIKERS:

- The Ischgl Ironbike – long route – is a marathon in category UCI Class 1.

- UCI points and prize money will only be allocated on the long route (79 km) for the men’s and women’s elite categories in accordance with UCI rules.

- Licensed bikers (whatever the licence, with the exception of Juniors who may only start on the short route) are only permitted to start on the long route in the men’s/women’s elite category and will only be assessed here since the UCI points and prize money are only judged on this route, in accordance with UCI rules.

- In the men’s Master’s category, prize money is paid out but no UCI points are awarded.

THE PROCESS OF SELECTING A ROUTE:

EVERY biker follows the short route to Galtür and back to Ischgl. Shortly before the destination, participants can decide whether they wish to continue on the medium or long route or return directly to the destination and thereby be assessed on the short route only.

The route split for the medium or long loop is located below the Vellilscharte (above the Idalp). Here, participants can decide whether they wish to complete the medium trail and pass through the Velliltal valley or continue on the long route to Samnaun.
