Measurement of snow depth in Ischgl

Snow depth is information regarding the absolute depth of snow coverage at a specified location (Source: Wikipedia).

Snow depths in Ischgl are measured daily at first light by our avalanche commission and the details are then released.

Snow is subject to specific factors, including temperature, wind, its own weight, transformation into snow crystals etc., natural settlement. For this reason snow depths do not automatically rise, in spite of fresh snow.

Conversely, wind-driven processes, even on a small-scale in open terrain, may also cause enormous thick snow coverage to build up, far beyond any fresh snow levels.
