In Ischgl, winter begins where it has long since ended elsewhere: at up to 2,872 metres above sea level, with reliable snow from November to early May – and a variety of slopes that is second to none. The Silvretta Arena, one of the top ski resorts in the Alps, connects Ischgl in Tyrol with the duty-free Swiss resort of Samnaun, offering a borderless winter sports experience.

With 239 kilometres of perfectly groomed slopes covering around 515 hectares, the cross-border ski area is not only the third largest in Tyrol, but also one of the most varied. Whether enjoyable carving runs, challenging trails up to 11 kilometres long, snow parks or specialist slopes – there is something here for everyone.

Because nobody likes to wait, 46 modern lifts and cable cars with a capacity of around 97,000 people per hour will take you up the mountain quickly and comfortably. 

Thanks to the ski resort's location at almost 3,000 meters above sea level, Ischgl offers guaranteed snow from November to early May. In addition, over 1,100 snow cannons ensure perfect conditions, even when Mother Nature takes a break.

The Smuggler’s Trail

a highlight For skiing enthusiasts

Without a doubt, the Smuggler’s Trail is one of the biggest highlights of Tyrol’s Silvretta Arena ski resort in Ischgl and Samnaun. Following in the footsteps of the smugglers of the olden days, skiers and snowboarders can explore the border area between Austria and Switzerland. The perfect opportunity to get an idea of the efforts it took for the smugglers to smuggle nylon stockings or coffee into the country!

The trail offers three routes with varying difficulty levels and different lengths. The Gold Trail is the most challenging one, both the Silver Trail and the Bronze Trail are easier, with the latter mostly comprising blue slopes.
