Snowpark Ischgl At It's Best!

„A good park is constantly changing."

Earlier than others the Snowpark Ischgl opened its gates for all shred hungry riders already at the beginning of December. Since the opening the split park of Fellil- and Idalp-Park offer a broad spectrum of beginner, medium and pro elements. Besides numerous boxes and 5 kickers with a length of 8-14m, a 10m spine and a BagJump are arranged among others. Additionally there is a varied funcrossline with rollers, kickers and a wave course for rookies and an exclusive „15 elements in line"course for all masters of freestyle. Wood jibs and a right-hand-hip belong to the fixtures as well as the pro line spine or boxes like a-frame or curved to mention just a few.

Park designer Klaus Marko informed us exclusively about the recent set-up, further plans and the present situation at the Snowpark Ischgl.

1. Hey Klaus, since when are you working as park designer at Ischgl?

Since 4 years.

2. How satisfied are you with the present set-up and the park all in all?

I'm more than satisfied with the park, because this year's December we already had more artificial snow than ever and therefore we could start the construction works very early. Park and set-up provide optimal conditions for every level!

3. What is special about this park?

The Snowpark Ischgl is one of the few parks in Austria that is constructed nearly totally out of artificial snow, though there is hardly any natural snow. Thanks to the artificial snow it has been one of the first completed winter parks.

4. What are you working on right now?

At the moment we are building up the wall ride.

5. What are your further plans regarding the construction works?

On one hand side we are still waiting for natural snow. On the other side we are processing in the same way since December. Since that the Snowpark Ischgl is finished to 80% and we are adding details regularly to keep the park fresh and to offer our visitors constant changes. We will maintain this habit and for example reconstruct rails or change obstacle positions. A finished park doesn't exist; a good park is constantly changing.

6. How is the park accepted from the riders?

The locals are very content and think about it as a dead good snowpark. Besides many riders of surrounding ski resorts came to Ischgl in the Christmas holidays because the parks in the area haven't been ready by that time or rather aren't that diverse as are the Fellil- and Idalp-Park.

7. What are your expectation or wishes for this season?

I'm completely satisfied with the present situation. So I don't expect anything and hope everything stays as great as it is.
