GASTRONOMY SUMMIT IN ISCHGL
The Chef's Star Cup and 1st Gastronomy Ski World Cup bring the who's who of the catering world to Ischgl: to kick off the event, at the Star Cup on 20th April 2009, 60 of the best chefs from Austria and Germany will be exchanging their aprons for ski suits and competing in the giant slalom and in the culinary exam on the Idalp Snow Stage.

Guests in Ischgl have the chance to see the most important kitchen stars in an unusual setting. 60 celebrity chefs will be competing against each other on the giant slalom in the 12th Chef's Star Cup. Over the last few years, top chefs such as Eckart Witzigmann, Dieter Müller, Heinz Winkler, Rudi and Karl Obauer, Johann Lafer and Hans Haas were at the starting line in Ischgl. This year, too, an elite starting line up is expected. For example, last year's victors Rudi Obauer from Restaurant Obauer in Werfen, Austria and Hans Haas from Tantris in Munich are taking part again this year. On 20th April from 10:30 am, the top chefs will be competing on the famous Idjoch slopes for the coveted title. And the celebrity chefs won't just be taking part in the ski race, but also competing in the culinary exam on the Idalp Snow Stage. In the evening, things will become even more exclusive at the gala event in the Trofana Arena, where award-winning chef Martin Sieberer will be rounding off the gourmet event with a display of his culinary skills within the framework of the great awards ceremony. 1. Gastronomy Ski World Cup
In Ischgl, April offers yet another highlight: From 22nd to 24th April 2009, the world premiere of the Gastronomy Ski World Cup will be taking place. After the great success of the Chef's Star Cup, this year the barkeepers and waiters (22.4), sommeliers and cooks (23.4) and the restaurateurs and hoteliers (24.4) will also be choosing their World Champion in the giant slalom. A supporting programme with mixing shows by the barkeepers and various tasting sessions, as well as an award ceremony and parties in Ischgl's scene clubs make the Gastronomy World Cup attractive for the spectators as well. On the day before, a real world champion will be there too: Mark Girardelli will be offering a special race training session for the participants. Here, one can also pick up a few tips for the next run. But that's not all! In Ischgl, the events continue in quick succession. On 2nd May 2009, the ski lifestyle metropolis will be celebrating the end of the season with the Top of the Mountain Concert, starring Kylie Minogue.
