PRESS RELEASE
SPECTACULAR FREERIDE EVENT IN ISCHGL

"Frejn's Freeride Inferno" lives up to its name: On 7th March 2009, Ischgl's snowboarders and free skiers promise to deliver a spectacular mass start downhill run.

These youngsters couldn't care less about blue runs and well-maintained family descents. When the starting signal is given on 7th March 2009 for Ischgl's legendary "Frejn's Freeride Inferno", more than 70 freeride addicts will be throwing themselves onto the downhill run that's far removed from the usual slopes. Individual routes are the order of the day - after the mass start each skier will make his own way through the terrain. Whoever reaches the finish line 1,000 metres lower down first is the winner. During the weeks leading up to event, organiser and snowboard legend Martin Freinademetz will be out and about in the Silvretta with a team of mountain guides inspecting various downhill runs. In order to ensure optimal conditions, the freeride experts will not be making a decision about the slopes to be used for the run until the morning of the event, depending on snow conditions and the weather. "Thanks to the amount of snow that fell in the early winter and the optimal base layer connected with this we are expecting perfect conditions," Freinademetz promises. "We had various versions in mind last year, which we will hopefully be able to use this year." Free skiers and snowboarders will be evaluated separately, then get together again for the party afterwards. The best lines and the most severe falls can be re-examined at the "Grill & Chill" in the snow.

Legendary race in the Silvretta Arena
Serial winner Ralph Castelberg from Switzerland will be in attendance again this year. "This is an event by freeriders for freeriders, and that is important to me." But the local competitors will do their best to contest his victory on the downhill run. All participants are required to have an avalanche alarm device and helmet. Ambitious freeriders can register at http://www.inferno.ws/.
